In our Countryside Arena at the Hampshire Country Fair, we focus on traditional countryside pursuits
Watch these gentle and magnificent giants in action as they demonstrate how horses used to be used in agriculture, and traditionally pulling the drays full of beer for the local breweries.
A fascinating display from their extremely knowledgeable handlers. Don’t forget to come and meet the horses afterwards too.
Watch these stunning birds of prey as they swoop and soar above the Countryside Arena. Handled by some of the UK’s top falconers, Chris Neal, Ray Pickup and the team from the Falconry Centre. You will learn how they are flkown, how they are used in pest control and sport, and you may even have the opportunity to come into the arena and fly one yourself. Again, you are welcome to meet the birds afterwards in the designated Falconry Marquee.
Simon Whitehead, his lurcher and his team of ferrets will demonstrate how these little animals are used for the good of the countryside and farming world.
Simon is a true country man and shares a wealth of experience and understanding in this fascinating display.
We may be lacking in water in the Countryside Arena, but our angling experts Peter Johnson, Ian Kilgour and Barry Grantham will be welcoming young volunteers into the arena to learn about fly casting in this informative demonstration.
If this grabs your interest, head over to our angling marquee where you can book your own individual tuition, or ask any questions of our angling experts from Trout and Salmon Conservation UK or the Angling Trust.
Traditional English entertainment with Punch and Judy and the tales of Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs. Always great fun for the young and the young at heart. Remember to shout really really loudly when that big bad wolf appears!
